Home Depot recently announced the partnership extension with Google Cloud. The partnership extension is certainly after working with the cloud provider to grow the digital sales during the pandemic 2020.
The Home Depot was built on Google Cloud in 2015. Like other retailers in the line, The Home Depot also encountered a spike in digital channels due to the pandemic. Also, there were changes in the interaction between customers, stores, associates, and digital channels. Due to all that happened, there was upliftment in digital sales by 86% in 2020.
How will the growth look like?
With partnership extension, the Home Depot will take the help of cloud provider’s AI (artificial intelligence) capabilities and tools like BigQuery to bring in a more flexible assortment, planning, predictive inventory management so that it is easier to gain logistical insights.
The company also uses Google Cloud AI resources to access the voice search feature in The Home Depot app.

Home Depot’s Senior Vice President of IT, Fahim Siddiqui talked about their experience during the pandemic.
“We did not offer by curbside pickup before all of this happened, but we were able to in a very agile manner, build a solution,” Siddiqui said. “The first solution was really in a matter of few hours.”
