Recently, the open-source enterprise software company SUSE S.A. has introduced new observability features for its Rancher Prime solution, aimed at Kubernetes environments, designed to improve full-stack visibility and troubleshooting capabilities.

The latest release, SUSE Rancher Prime 3.1, is an enterprise-level platform for managing and deploying Kubernetes clusters across various environments, including on-premises, cloud, and edge. It offers centralized control, governance, and security for Kubernetes, with the goal of simplifying the deployment, management, and scaling of containerized applications for organizations.

The recent updates to SUSE Rancher Prime 3.1 include new observability features that provide full-stack visibility and enable proactive issue resolution. SUSE reports that these enhancements enhance the platform’s ability to optimize performance, reduce downtime, and ensure reliability in complex, distributed cloud-native environments.

Rancher Prime now provides real-time, context-rich insights, enhancing efficiency by simplifying troubleshooting processes. By ensuring optimal performance from edge to cloud, the service delivers a smoother and more reliable user experience.

The new functionality integrated into Rancher Prime stems from SUSE’s acquisition of observability vendor StackState BV in June. StackState’s flagship product, a tool for troubleshooting Kubernetes, is now part of the Rancher Prime suite. According to SUSE, this integration enhances efficiency and delivers more reliable user experiences by incorporating observability into application engineering workflows.

Rancher Prime Observability offers several benefits, including built-in application performance monitoring with eBPF-based visibility, advanced dependency mapping, and automated data correlation. These features integrate metrics, events, logs, and traces to streamline root cause analysis.

The service features centralized dashboards that deliver both real-time and historical insights, minimizing context switching and boosting operational efficiency. It also offers issue detection and guided remediation, supported by customizable, expert-driven strategies for quicker problem resolution.

“As the threats of service interruptions continue, the risk of widespread outages is higher than ever and our customers need a unified view of their entire mission-critical infrastructure and applications. Rancher Prime Observability will enable customers to ensure reliability, accelerate troubleshooting and maximize performance while keeping their systems running smoothly,” said Senior Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Container Management at SUSE, Peter Smails.
