A startup providing a platform for enterprise device management, NinjaOne LLC, has raised USD 500 million in new funding.

The company recently disclosed that the funding was an extension of its Series C round announced last year, led by Alphabet Inc.’s CapitalG and ICONIQ Growth. With this investment, NinjaOne’s valuation has reached five billion dollars.

Founded in 2013, NinjaOne offers a platform for IT teams to manage employees’ PCs and mobile devices. The company claims its software minimizes manual effort and enhances security by reducing the risk of data breaches.

In large enterprises with thousands of employee devices, some may go unnoticed, posing cybersecurity risks and unresolved technical issues. To tackle this, NinjaOne automatically inventories all devices on a corporate network, including the software they run.

NinjaOne’s platform identifies devices in need of patching and allows administrators to download updates for Windows, macOS, Linux, and over 200 applications. The company claims its automation features cut patch deployment time by 90%.

NinjaOne includes an observability system that allows IT teams to monitor employee devices for technical issues, detecting hardware failures, ransomware, and other problems. Additionally, a networking tool lets technicians remotely access malfunctioning devices for troubleshooting.

NinjaOne’s platform can automatically resolve certain technical issues. Administrators can set up remediation scripts that trigger in response to specific malfunctions. For example, a script could detect a crashed device and reboot it without manual intervention.

To safeguard against data loss from technical issues, NinjaOne includes a cloud-based backup tool. Last month, it announced a USD 252 million acquisition of Australia-based Dropsuite Pvt Ltd., a company specializing in backup and recovery for SaaS applications, to further enhance its data protection capabilities.

Dropsuite’s product also functions as an archiving system, allowing organizations like banks to store rarely accessed records for extended periods to meet regulatory requirements.

NinjaOne will allocate its new funding toward the Dropsuite acquisition while also investing in new features to enhance automation for device management and cybersecurity tasks.
