Google Cloud is trying to boost its security business by building closer relationships with Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs).
Acknowledging that its past outreach to MSSPs has been lacking, Google Cloud spoke about the launch of a new “Chronicle MSSP Program”. It is a four-part initiative that aims to increase sales of security offerings through current and future channel partners.
Google is focusing on four program areas – marketing, sales, technical support, and business investment – which aim to make it easier for MSSPs to sell products and services on the Google Cloud Platform’s marketplace.
Google Cloud unveiled the announcement via a blog post shared by the Head of Product Marketing, Sharat Ganesh. He wrote, “Google’s goal is to offer MSSPs worldwide the ability to provide scalable, differentiated, and effective detection and response capabilities with our cloud-native SIEM product, Chronicle.”
He added, “We are turbocharging our MSSP partners with specialized services offerings, enabling branded portals and next-generation threat detection, investigation, and response capabilities.”
Last month, Google Cloud announced that it plans to spend USD 5.4 billion to acquire threat intelligence and cybersecurity services superstar Mandiant. In January, it acquired Israeli cybersecurity startup Siemplify for approximately USD 500 million.
Jess Leroy, Director of Product Management at Google Cloud Security, said that end-user customers have become very sensitive about security and are demanding more help to manage their security needs. The company has responded to growing calls for security via a spree of recent acquisitions.
“There hasn’t necessarily been a full program that gives MSSPs a sort of highly differentiated approach to leverage our tooling,” he told a news website.
He also mentioned that Google Cloud is looking out for broad participation.
