Workload isolation technology startup Edera Inc. secured USD 15 million in new funding to enhance its workload isolation technology, strengthen AI infrastructure security, and expand its team to drive adoption.
Founded in 2024, Edera specializes in cloud workload isolation to improve infrastructure security. Its technology isolates devices into dedicated cloud environments, mitigating vulnerabilities in shared infrastructures, particularly for AI workloads that rely on GPUs.
Edera’s flagship product, Edera Protect Kubernetes, safeguards container workloads by eliminating shared kernels, preventing lateral movement and attack vectors. The solution integrates seamlessly across cloud and on-premises environments without requiring specialized hardware or complex configurations.
By enabling enterprises to consolidate workloads—including GPU-intensive tasks—on standard cloud instances while maintaining strong isolation, Edera enhances security, reduces cloud computing costs, and avoids vendor lock-in.
The Series A funding round was led by M12 Inc., Microsoft’s venture fund, with participation from Mantis VC, In-Q-Tel, and existing investors Eniac Ventures, 645 Ventures Management, FPV Ventures LP, Precursor Ventures, and Rosecliff Ventures.
In addition to the funding, Edera introduced Edera Protect AI, a security-first solution designed to automate GPU configuration while safeguarding AI infrastructure. The service streamlines GPU setup and isolation, eliminating the need for manual configuration while protecting AI models from potential security threats that could impact both enterprises and society.
By enabling enterprises to consolidate workloads—traditionally requiring separate clusters or specialized hardware, including GPU-intensive tasks—onto standard cloud instances with strict isolation, the solution helps reduce cloud computing costs. Edera also highlights its multi-cloud compatibility, which enhances workload portability, minimizes vendor lock-in, and optimizes efficiency compared to traditional Docker deployments for certain workloads.
“Edera’s technology delivers true workload isolation while maintaining native container-like performance in today’s multi-tenant cloud environments,” said Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Alex Zenla. “We provide platform teams with robust isolation boundaries that enhance security without requiring changes to existing infrastructure or sacrificing the speed and agility that businesses depend on.”
