Microsoft announced this week’s plans for new cloud data centers’ regions in three countries that didn’t have them, namely, Italy, New Zealand, and Poland. The opening dates aren’t out yet for any of the regions. As Microsoft’s cloud services are hitting capacity constraints for the past several months, the new regions should help in expanding Microsoft’s promised capacity.
In the cases of Poland and Italy, Microsoft plans to take it on a larger, multi-billion, and multi-year investment plan. The investment plans will comprise digital skilling, smart working programs, small business acceleration, and sustainability programs.
In Poland, Microsoft will offer the same set of services from its new cloud data region there, besides in New Zealand and Aotearoa, Microsoft’s new data center region will provide customers with Microsoft 365, Azure, Dynamics 365, and Power Platform tools. In Milan, Italy, Microsoft is building a new data center, and it will bring customers Azure, Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, and Power Platform tools.
With these three announcements, Microsoft will make a total of 61 data center regions. Microsoft enables digital transformation for the era of an intelligent cloud and an intelligent edge. Microsoft said in a press release, “The mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.”
Going further, Microsoft might announce plans for new cloud regions, i.e., Spain and Mexico.
